About Our Activities

The PAA runs many activities throughout the year for parents and kids, including classes, parties, trips, and more. Here is a sample of the types of activities available through the PAA.

  • The PAA holds informal gatherings complete with coffee and donuts, where the parents can talk and the kids can play. These have been held in Woodchips play area, in the Payson courtyard, and even in St. Catherine’s Park nearby. PAA coffee hours generally take place monthly or bimonthly.
  • Community-Building ActivitiesThe PAA hosts community-building activities such as picnics and kids’ art shows, as well as adult education seminars including recent seminars on Pre-K through Elementary School Options in our CommunityManaging Stress as a Parent; and Financial Strategies for the Young Physician and Family.
  • PartiesThe PAA hosts a series of parties throughout the year, usually based on seasonal or holiday themes. Parties have food, music, and some form of kids’ entertainment. We have held parties at our own spaces as well as at local venues. Typical parties have included: Summer party, Winter party, Valentine’s Day party, Halloween party, and more. For specific information about upcoming parties, please email parties@paanyc.org.
  • Rummage SaleThe PAA holds approximately four rummage sales per year. The sales consist of primarily children’s clothing and equipment, as well as some housewares and men’s/women’s/maternity clothing. PAA members donate items for the sale, and the sale is open to the public. All proceeds go to help sponsor PAA events and services. Items are pay-what-you-wish and leftover donations are donated to local charities. The PAA rummage sales are a great place to clothe those growing kids without spending a bundle, and a great way to clear out unneeded clothing and equipment from our tiny NYC apartments. For more information email rummagesale@paanyc.org.
  • Trips The PAA typically organizes a trip about every other month or as determined by the Trips Committee. Past trips have included: Long Island Children’s Museum, Rye Playland, Queens County Farm, Sesame Street Live, NY Aquarium, Staten Island Children’s Museum, and more. For more information about specific trips or events, or to share ideas for future trips or events, please email trips@paanyc.org.
